It's Official [Jul. 9th, 2009|09:16 pm]
[mood | cheerful]

I have purchased a new home, well new to me anyway. [info]sqrlcub and I are going to be moving into a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath town home. :o) I'm pretty excited. It is in a nice part of town, and near a Max line. It is a nice upgrade from the condo I had back in Maryland.

So YAY!!!!!

When will it end [Dec. 21st, 2008|12:25 pm]
[mood | cold]

OK, so we have gotten dumped on by mother nature with a freak, or so they tell me, snow storm. While I love snow, I don't like being stuck inside. It seems that Oregon doesn't know how to salt or plow the roads. That de-icer stuff is crap. They like to put down gravel and sand and wait for the weather to change to do all the work. OH and btw, just because you have a 4WD SUV doesn't give you license to drive like a moron when there is still ice and snow on the road (that pretty little suv with 4wd won't help you on ice).

My first experience with chains was not fun when one decided to break and do damage to my brakes, hence why I am stuck in the parking lot until I can get a tow truck to come out, which is looking like JULY at this point.

Granted I have to admit the snow is pretty, but this is Baltimore winter weather in Portland, minus good road care. So a word of advise to the Gov here, look to back east and get some fucking salt for the roads and a plow or two to spread it, your citizens will thank you in the end.

My Liberal Identity:

You are a Working Class Warrior, also known as a blue-collar Democrat. You believe that the little guy is getting screwed by conservative greed-mongers and corporate criminals, and you’re not going to take it anymore.

Oregon DMV Experience [Sep. 2nd, 2008|02:57 pm]
[mood | chipper]

SO the day came to finally get our new tags and we headed down to the DEQ to get the cars inspected, which took like 10 minutes max, then off to the DMV to get the new tags. Being from Maryland where a trip to the MVA is usually a 4+ hour event, not to mention the hour or so wait to get your car inspected, and all the unpleasant people you get to deal with, I was shocked to be done with everything and home in about an hour and a half. Oh, I forgot to mention the workers at the DMV were friendly.

Facebook [Aug. 28th, 2008|05:27 pm]
[mood | bouncy]

SO I recently joined Facebook. It seems pretty cool, and I have heard from several people that I went to college with and one I grew up with, so that is kind of cool. I'm thinking that it may take the place of my web page at some point.

What the hell????? [Aug. 27th, 2008|09:58 pm]
[mood | pissed off]

I really just don't understand people. I am having more drama at work. It seems that someone from my office, and I have a good idea who it is, (one of three people)think I am a bit on the loud side. I found out today, second hand of course, that someone sent an email to the regional VP that myself and this other woman who has been helping me are being way to loud and giggly and all that crap. Anybody who knows me, knows that I am rather soft spoken and most people have a problems hearing me. I realize that a lot of this is geared towards the lady who has been helping me out, because she can be a bit loud. But really someone has nothing better to do with there time? SO now I really don't want to go off to work anymore. While I don't regret moving out here I really regret going to work for the company I work for now which is really sad since it has barely been 6 months.

Oregon DMV [May. 5th, 2008|12:28 pm]
So I took the day off to take the test to get my new drivers license. I am grateful that I only had to do the written test. Let me tell you it was so, and I mean so, much more pleasant then going down to the DMV in Maryland (where you needed the better part of a day). I think I was done and out of there in about an hour. Oh and did I mention they were actually pleasant? So, now I have a provisional license and my new one will come in the mail in about 5-10 days.

In other fun and exciting news, I had Car issues last week. My shifter cable broke while I was picking up dinner. So I had it towed to a local place. Here's the kicker, it took 3 days to get the part, and this is the best part, when they were working on it they had both doors open. I bet you know where this is going. There was a car next to me and they started to lift it. And Yes, they did minor damage to the passenger side of my door. While it is barely noticeable, they are going to be fixing it. Sometimes you just have to laugh, and this was one of those times. I am lucky that they were honest about it and told me.

Now I get to get new tags!!

My first few days in Portland [Mar. 15th, 2008|05:00 pm]
[mood | happy]

Well, I made it across country in one peace. I was very grateful that my brother was willing to go with me and keep me company. While I did most of the driving, he helped me out several days. I've noticed that for the most part, people here are a lot nicer. My new office threw me a little birthday party. cake, yummy!!! Any way, I have a nice apartment with a fireplace, and a pretty good location. I'm about 10 minutes from downtown, and it seems like there are 10 Starbucks in the area, including right across the street. I think the weather might take a little getting used to, but I think I am up to it. So now that my furniture and stuff is here, it is more like a home. Besides, you just have to love being able to walk into any grocery or Target store and be able to buy beer and wine. The one thing that will make it better is when [info]sqrlcub gets here.
